Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Steroid use, dosing and the taper needs to be decided upon by a Vet that has examined the pet. We can not prescribe drugs or tell you how to use a drug because we legally are not allowed to. I am sorry. I recommend calling your Vet and asking them since they have a legal relationship with you. Have a great day!

I have used the compounded Cerenia in one case before with success. If it is from a reputable compounding pharmacy, I wouldn't have concerns. I haven't had any issues with compounded prednisolone and I think it would be fine and effective.

Absolutely not. This medication must be given under the direct supervision of a veterinarian due to it's high potential for side effects and incorrect dosing. If your needs steroids (like prednisone) he must be examined by a vet.

Unfortunately no. It is illegal for us to prescribe medication from this site, we need to see Dixie in person in order to prescribe medication. You will need to continue to see your vet in order to get her prednisone. Best of luck.

Unfortunately, by law it is illegal for the experts at Boop by Petco to recommend using any drug without seeing the animal in person first. That's because doing so requires a veterinary client patient relationship which cannot be achieved via an internet forum. In addition, the experts cannot say for certain if a specific drug is safe for Rudy. I strongly urge you not to give him the prednisone, as they can only be given to cats under specific situations and if they are heathy. Give his vet a call to let them know he is in pain, and you can see if they can prescribe some pain medication for him. Best of luck.
