Without seeing the eyes myself it is hard to say what the problem could be. She is 15 years old so there are many diseases of the eyes that could be happening. You can try this ophthalmic gel in the eyes once to twice a day to see if it helps but really, she should see a vet. I understand times are hard but you can't let her suffer. https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/vetericyn-plus-antimicrobial-pet-ophthalmic-gel There are some low cost clinics in your area. I think you should try to get her in for an exam. Also, there are some organizations that can help with veterinary costs. https://www.mdspca.org/veterinary-care/wellness-clinic/ https://bmorehumane.org/adopt/surrender-2/financial-issues-veterinary-costs-food-etc/

Yes, that is pretty normal for this breed. You will have to wipe them 2-3 times per day to avoid a lot of build-up. I would suggest using these wipes: ( https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/well-and-good-cat-eye-wipes )

The elevation of the third eyelid really just tells me that the eye is uncomfortable, it doesn’t really make a diagnosis. It can be a viral infection, an injury, allergies, or others. I would warm compress the eye several times a day, as well as gently rinse with an isotonic saline rinse several times a day. This can be purchased at any pharmacy in the human eye section. If it does not improve or seems to get worse at anytime then she should really be seen to avoid losing the eye. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.

The location between the ear and the eye in cats generally has very thin fur, so it is a common area to lose hair as they get older or with any irritation. You are correct that topical products there are a bad idea. Biotin is safe since it is a water soluble B Vitamin, so it does not buld up in the tissues. I have attached a definition of water solution below. https://www.cancer.gov/publications/dictionaries/cancer-terms?cdrid=560347 So, Biotin would be safe, but I have not personally found that it helps with hair growth in areas of hair loss (especially after 2 years). I wish I had a good solution for you, but you may just have to live with the hair loss. I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using PetCoach.

Hello. It is possible that Stella has a mild, chronic upper respiratory infection caused by a common feline herpes virus. You can try giving her a supplement containing lysine ( all major retailors will have this ), or you can discuss this with your veterinarian to see if a round of anti-viral medications will benefit Stella. This is not life-threatening & certainly something that she can live with. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
