For days where it is very hot, you do want to avoid taking your dog for a walk at the hottest parts of the day (mid-day) especially on paved areas as your dog's feet can get burned. They do sell dog booties that you can put on your dog's feet to help protect them. There are many different companies that make these, one example is https://www.amazon.com/HiPaw-Breathable-Dual-Boots-Protector/dp/B01HS2M7FI/ref=sr_1_7?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1496836452&sr=1-7&keywords=dog+boots. If she has no skin/coat issues, just a gentle oatmeal shampoo is fine for bathing when needed. Most dogs do not need frequent bathing unless they are getting very dirty and bathing too often can dry their skin out. I wouldn't bathe more than every other week unless needed. You can follow this with a creme rinse. I like https://www.amazon.com/Virbac-Epi-Soothe-Shampoo-8-oz/dp/B002CZHYPA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496836697&sr=8-1&keywords=virbac+episoothe+shampoo and https://www.amazon.com/Epi-Soothe-Cream-Ri
Whether or not it is safe to leave your dog at your sisters will depend on your dog. If he has never been around children before or has shown any aggression towards children, then it is less safe. No dog should be left unattended around children, so it is best if your dog hasn't been around the baby to keep it in an area separated from where the baby will be- either a separate area of the house or outdoors. Some dogs are fine with babies, others may be made anxious by the presence of a baby or they may view the baby as a prey due to small size and the funny noises the baby makes. Since your dog is so small, perhaps putting it in a pen inside your sister's house would work. He shouldn't be hard to contain due to his size. Whether you should bring him with you is going to depend on where you area going- do they allow dogs? will it be very hot outside? will you have to leave the dog in a car? It can get hot VERY quickly in a car in warm weather even with windows rolled down, so it is
It is extremely difficult, if not impossible to control a pets allergies with access to medications through your vet. If you are looking for an affordable and effective treatment, then ask your vet about a product called Apoquel. It has grown immensely in its popularity among pet owners because of its reasonable pricing and effectiveness in controlling canine allergic dermatitis. Also I know you probably are already aware, but finding out what the allergen is and either avoiding it (when possible) or getting skin allergy testing and subsequent allergy shots are often needed to truly control a pets allergic condition. However as I mentioned earlier, Apoquel acts to stop the itch in pets with allergies as long as the pet is on the medication. Another thing you can do is to give Ahi daily fish oils (pet formulated from your local pet store), which provides some natural anti-inflammatory properties. Here is a website link on canine allergic dermatitis for more information: http://www.vet
Hello and thank you very much for your inquiry. Because you are experiencing seasonal type of itching, this helps to narrow down our possible list of diagnoses. The possible causes of your itching are: flea allergy dermatitis, environmental allergies, and contact dermatitis. The first thing that I would absolutely recommend is that you have your dogs on a prescription veterinary flea preventative every single month including the winter months. Flea bite dermatitis can be worse in the summer if use dart flea preventative’s then and skip the rest of the year. Next, take a wet wash cloth and wipe down both of your dogs every morning and every night from head to tail to feet just to remove possible allergens that may have collected on them that would cause the itching. Lastly, if those two things do not work, then you are veterinarian will be able to give an anti-itch injection that should last for the duration of the summer and make your dogs feel a lot better. Thanks a lot for your q
Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. From the pictures it appears that Dune may be dealing with a skin infection. If you are unable to get him in to be seen by the veterinarian, I would recommend the below products, which can all be found online quite easily. Do this for about 3-4 weeks and if there is no improvement, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Dune so that the most appropriate treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further. 1. Douxo PS Chlorhexidine Combination and bathe twice weekly until resolved 2. Malacetic conditioning spray and apply 2-3 times per day on the affected areas until resolved 3. Welactin omega 3 fish oil capsules for dogs 4. Essential 6 Spot On by Dermoscent
