Every dog is a little different and you may have to experiment a bit to find the food that Roscoe tolerates the best. I don't know what your budget is, or what is specifically available in your area, but here are a few brand options: Natural Balance Taste of the Wild Merrick Canidae Most of these brands offer grain free treats as well. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Grains aren't bad; it is a personal choice whether to feed your dog grain-free food. The amount of grains in a diet will depend on the other nutrients in the food. They are often used to make a dog food balanced in the total nutrients. There is some concern right now that some grain-free diets (particularly those that use potatoes or legumes) may be related to heart disease in some breeds of dogs. We don't know enough information to say there is a direct correlation. However, for that reason, I tend to guide my clients away from grain-free foods. When deciding if a brand or type of dog food is good or not, I look at the pet. If they are eating it well without vomiting, diarrhea, or flatulence, and they have plenty of energy and a nice, glossy coat, then it is probably a good food for them. Hello, & thank you for using Boop by Petco. Dogs do enjoy sweets, so using this product as an occasional treat is perfectly fine. Just like for us, pretty much everything is OK in moderation & as long as your Chloe is healthy & not diabetic. Enjoy!

The key to doing treats while a dog is on an elimination diet is to use treats that have the same ingredients as the food you are trying. Sometimes the easiest way to do this is to use canned food of the variety and flavor that you are using to put in a Kong or bake into treats. Other options would be to use sweet potato chews if the food you are feeding has sweet potatoes in it (which Zignature kangaroo does not) or giving dehydrated chews that are the same meat source that you are feeding (which will be a challenge for a kangaroo food). So, for the food you are feeding right now, the best option may be to use canned Zignature kangaroo to create treats for Lucy. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

A few general recommendations: stick with well known brands with a good reputation. Look for products made in the USA. Kibble works great for treats and I use Purina Pro Plan chicken or lamb and rice. Dry biscuit type treats usually have less calories and salt. The jerky or moist type treats are fine in moderation (they have more calories and salt usually). Lastly, many dogs really like dehydrated chicken livers and chicken jerky. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
