The main difference is that the Iverhart Max will control an additional intestinal parasite (tapeworms). Otherwise the medications will both protect against heartworms, roundworms, hookworms and are generally well tolerated. The Max product does contain an additional ingredient (to kill the tapeworms). Again, this ingredient is generally well tolerated but watch Benji after giving him the medication for any signs of GI upset. Thank you for your questions.

Hello, & thank you for using Boop by Petco. The general dose of the liquid pyrantal is 1 ml per 10 pounds of body weight. You can very safely give 1.5 ml to the 15 pound dog & 2.0 ml to the 20 pound dog every month with the Iverheart & this is essentially the Iverheart Plus. Take care.

Hello. This is fine to use. I would not recommend giving both of these on the same day. Give one on the first of the month & the second on the 15th so there are no drug interactions. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Tri-Heart is generic Heartgard and is just as effective. I am not sure why your vet won't prescribe it for you. You cannot buy any heartworm prevention over the counter so you will need a prescription. I suggest you bring your dog to one of the VETCO vaccine clinics at your local Petco stores (see schedule below). Bring proof of his last negative heartworm test and they can give you a prescription for the Tri-Heart. There is no charge for the exam. Just the cost of the medication. Hope this helps! If you have proof that the dogs have a current negative heartworm test (current means a test within the last year) then you can get the product at any one of our VETCO vaccination clinics. If you do not have proof of a negative heartworm test, you can get the test done at the clinic and then you can buy the Interceptor (or any type of heartworm prevention).
