Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Apoquel is a good drug to help with itching but it will not treat the cause of the itching. What you are seeing could be a skin infection. I would recommend a course of an oral antibiotic and the below recommended products that can be found online or at your local pet store. You will need to get the antibiotic prescribed through your veterinarian. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. 1. Welactin omega 3 fish oil 2. Essential 6 spot on by dermoscent 3. Douxo PS calm shampoo and bathe twice weekly until the infection is resolved 4. Malacetic conditioning spray and apply to the area until resolved

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! They will likely be able to refill it for you as long as they agree with that treatment plan to continue. Your best bet would be to contact them directly and check with your veterinarian. I am sure they will be more than happy to assist you and also to know that it is working well for Pablo. Have a good night!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! While apoquel is a great drug to stop scratching and to help atopic dermatitis it doesn't do anything in the face of a skin infection. Coco should be checked to see if she now has a yeast and or bacterial skin infection. There is also the option of doing an injection for scratching called cytopoint, which lasts 30-60 days (dog dependent). I would also consider adding Omega 3 fish oils and changing her diet to a non-chicken based novel protein diet (try venison, lamb, fish). Claritin, benadryl and zyrtec can be sued in dogs, see links below: https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/benadryl/ https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/zyrtec/ https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/claritin/ https://www.vrshealth.com/canine-products/omegadog/ https://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=15235

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Dove! Apoquel will stop working or not work well if the dog has a skin infection. It only helps control itching. If the apoquel was working and now it isn't that could be the cause. Yeast or bacterial skin infections are possible which can easily be determined with cytology (looking under the microscope). Apoquel is only labeled to be given twice daily for 2 weeks then decreased to once daily due to the risk of suppressing the immune system. I would have Dove rechecked by your Vet. I always recommend for my bad allergy patients to start an Omega 3 supplement and also use an antihistamine. Sometimes bathing in medicated shampoos can help as well (bathe twice weekly and leave the lather on for 10 mins before rinsing). I wish Dove the very best! https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/zyrtec/ https://www.vrshealth.com/canine-products/omegadog/ https://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=27307

The easiest way is to make an appointment with a veterinarian for an exam and show him the prescription. He may actually sell you the Apoquel. Unfortunately you will not get a prescription from a veterinarian here without a hands-on exam as the vet has to establish a client-patient-vet relationship (legal requirement) in order to prescribe a medication for your animal. This is satisfied with a clinical exam.
