Prescription diuretics for dogs are medications used to increase the amount of salt and water expelled from your dog’s body as urine. Diuretics can be used as part of medical management of congestive heart failure, as well as other conditions where the body may retain too much fluid. They often begin working within minutes of injection and can have a peak effect after 30 minutes. Your veterinarian will prescribe your dog diuretics based on their body weight. Diuretics are generally safe for dogs but always consult with your veterinarian before use to ensure proper dosage and care for your pup.

My dog is on lasix for fluid around his heart. Is there any electrolyte replacement beverage formulated specifically for dogs? I am not interested in the i.v. bags.
My 10 year old Doberman was diagnosed with CHF last week and immediately placed on Lasix. He was first taking two in the morning and two at night and now takes on pill twice a day. Suddenly he has no bladder control (wetting in his sleep) and now there is blood in his urine. Is this a side effect of the medication?
My dog has dcm and furosemide is not working anymore us there anything else I can give her
Rx for diarrhea in a dog
Hi there my dog was prescribed venectyl-p steroid for inflammation. we are a couple of days in and he is drinking excessive water and peeing much more often. Is this normal? Should we take him off these pills?
My dog was recently diagnosed with heartworms. My vet prescribed Doxycycline and Prednisone. It's only day 2 and my dog is struggling to urinate. He is constantly drinking water but I'm afraid his bladder will rupture if he doesn't start urinating more. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Dahlia on Cephalexin for three weeks 1000 mg a day plus Ketonazide for inflammation 500 mg once a day. She is drinking too much water seems lethargic and wants to eat little also has diarrhea. Using ForteFlora. Can these drugs damage her kidneys? She is 9 yrs old
Vivi wets the bed in her sleep pretty much every night. I've had her checked out by a vet, gotten blood work done, but everything appears to be normal. The vet gave her tolterodone 4mg twice a day, which seemed to work for a few days at a time but the bed is wet more times than it is dry. She has an enlarged heart and arrhythmia as well. Is there anything I can do for this? Also, we don't get dog diapers or diaper pads easily here. Can I use normal unscented sanitary pads with a dog panty?
Dog has started furosemide tablets for fluid build up, has not been eating properly since which is very out of character for him (eating a 1/4 of his usual food amount which he usually eats all of). Concerned due some of the side effects of furosemide
My do was prescribed Lasix and I was if I could desolve it in a little water to give her it is a 1/2 of a tablet.
My Vet is keeping my Dog for IV Fluids to flush toxins out after being diagnosed with Kidney Insufficiency. Is this recommended? Didn't see anything about it in your article.
The vet gave our dog 500ccs of fluid mixed with dextrose because she was so dehydrated. She did this subcutaneously. She is only 14.2 lbs. is this too much? She now has a fever and panting really hard, she is also in pain in which she wasn’t before. After the fluids she seemed much better, now it is way worse.
