Watching a beloved pet struggle with symptoms of high blood pressure or congestive heart failure can be difficult for pet parents, but a diuretic for cats can greatly help reduce symptoms. If your cat seems to be struggling with bloating, labored breathing, weakness, lethargy or other symptoms that often come from heart failure or high blood pressure in cats, it’s a good idea to consult your veterinarian right away. They can diagnose the problem and recommend the correct prescription cat heart and blood pressure medicine from Petco’s pet pharmacy.
Diuretics are a type of medication that helps the body eliminate excess fluids and salts by increasing urine output. They work by increasing the amount of urine that is produced by the kidneys, which helps to remove excess fluids and salts from the body. In cats, diuretics are typically used to treat conditions that cause fluid buildup, such as congestive heart failure, kidney disease, or liver disease.
Diuretics may be prescribed for cats with conditions that cause fluid buildup, such as congestive heart failure, kidney disease, liver disease, or pulmonary edema. Diuretics may also be used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) in cats.
Some of the most common prescription diuretics for cats include furosemide (Lasix), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDIURIL), and spironolactone (Aldactone). These medications are usually prescribed by a veterinarian and require a prescription to obtain.
Furosemide is often used as a diuretic for cats. It can help treat congestive heart failure or high blood pressure. One of the most common Furosemide side effects in cats is increased urination, but that’s a sign that the medication is effectively eliminating excess water from your cat’s body. Since Furosemide is a prescription medication and dosage in cats can vary, talk to your veterinarian before giving your cat this medicine. Your vet will provide you with appropriate guidance, and you can find Furosemide for dogs and cats at Petco’s pet pharmacy.

My cat Lilly isn't drinking enough water. She went to the vet for severe dehydration. She is on doxycycline, Amoxi Clav K+ Suspension, Mirtazapine, PancrePlus, and is getting Lactated Ringers subdermal. She absorbs the LR in a couple hours and she is eating voraciously (wet food) but I don't see her consuming very much water. The antibiotics are for a persistent URI. Could this be due to a chronic condition? Im worried that when her meds run out that she will get ill again. Suggestions?
How can I help my cats urinary blockage
My 8 y/o male cat had his first bout of cystitis a few weeks ago, my vets only solution was to give Rx food (Hills, Royal Canin or ProPlan) these all have fish products in them (even non fish flavors) and my cat is allergic. They have no other suggestions and said he will have another issue if he's not on that food. I've read about Wysong Uretic wet food, Wysong Biotic ph- supplement, Cystease, Tinkle Tonic, etc - would anything else work as an alternative? PLEASE HELP!
What is the best diet for Acut acute glomerulonephritis ?? In cats
how much water intake does my blocked cat need everyday after being admitted to the hospital and treated?
Is there an over the counter supplement I can give my cat for interstitial cystitis? She's 8. Good appetite and very loving.
My do was prescribed Lasix and I was if I could desolve it in a little water to give her it is a 1/2 of a tablet.
Hi, I have a domestic shorthair cat with fluid in his abdomen. We saw a vet and X-ray showed his heart is fine. There was too much fluid for the X-ray to show what was happening in the abdomen. He hasnt been eating or drinking much, but after the vet took out about 200ml of fluid, he ran for the food/water bowl. Blood work showed low sodium and potassium, low glu and low creatine.
My 13 y/o chubby male cat just had PU surgery 10 days ago but is still suffering from inflammation, urethral spasms, and unable to urinate on his own. They've had to put catheters in him 3 x's since his surgery. Prazosin is not working (he's been taking it for 1 month), we've tried Onzior with Valium for 3 days (that got him to pee once a day). But those were short term meds. He was then switched to Phenoxybenzamine along with xanax. That made him dizzy, very lethargic, dazed, diarrhea, vomited,
Are there any options other than medicines for a cat with congestive heart failure. My cat is now on four medications: furosemide, spironalactone, pemabendin, and benazapril. I have major concerns about toxicity with so many medicines. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is believed to have caused the heart failure. X rays show an enlarged heart but there has not been echocardiography. Thank you.
Hi is rehydration the sole purpose of sub Q fluid for cats with CKD and is reserved for cats that wont drink? Can't cats get water via oral syringe instead? Or from added water in food? I have never seen my cat drink out of the water bowl because I add plenty of water in the food; however he does urinate a lot-- 5 times a day. Would extra liquid intake in cats help with kidney disease or would it post any health problems?
We have a 8yr old female cat with bladder stones. We just started her on the Rx moist food, but,Is there anything we can give her to help her now with running from litter box to litter box? And,to help her actually empty her bladder? There is a little blood in her urine,so, I'm guessing, like with crystals, the opening in her bladder is irritated, and swollen? And won't allow much urine out at a time?Is there anything that will help her now? Unfortunately,we had to wait to long for results from vet,3mns
