Description
Doxycycline is an antibiotic commonly used to treat many diseases carried by ticks. Doxycycline is used to treat susceptible infections such as erlichiosis, Lyme Disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, salmon poisoning, toxoplasmosis and leptospirosis. Please note: This is a generic medication. Product packaging and appearance, including size, color, and shape, may differ from the description or images provided and are subject to manufacturer availability.
- - Doxycycline should be given at least 2 hours before or after multivitamins, calcium or iron supplements, antacids, dairy products, and/or laxatives to ensure proper absorption

Doxycycline Hyclate Tablets should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian. Please consult your veterinarian before making any changes or discontinuing the prescribed dosing schedule. Avoid dry pilling this medication, especially in cats and other small animals, as the pill may become lodged and damage the throat and/or esophagus. Give with a moist treat and follow with food or liquid (at least 2 to 3 mL of water is recommended) that does not contain iron or dairy. Please notify and discuss treatment options with your veterinarian if your pet has difficulty swallowing this medication. Administer the complete course of the medication as prescribed, even if your pet's condition has improved. Failure to administer the entire course of treatment may cause recurrence or worsening of the infection. Contact your veterinarian ahead of time if your pet needs a refill.

My two dogs tested positive for Lyme at Petco. Can Petco also prescribe and sell the antibiotic treatment at the same location they ran the test?
Where can I buy an antibiotic for my cat with out a vet prescription?
- You can't get one without a vet's prescription. Not all antibiotics work on all bacteria. Your vet can have a culture done to identify the bacteria and which antibiotics will actually work against it.
