My rabbits are lethargic with gastro after vaccine. Is this normal?

Since Blossom is still eating and producing normal stool I would not worry just yet. She is probably very uncomfortable from her surgery. Continue to monitor her closely and if she stops eating then take her to your vet for a recheck.

Check his teeth if he will allow. Make sure they aren't overgrown or misaligned. This could affect his appetite. If he stops eating, he is at risk of developing gut stasis which can be life threatening. Ideally, he should be examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating rabbits. It should be done today/tonight, if possible, since a rabbit that is lethargic or not eating should be considered a veterinary emergency.

I would recommend calling your veterinarian tonight and letting them know that Wolfie is not feeling great. They may prescribed him some anti-inflammatory medication, fluids or anti-nausea medication to help him feel a little better. Good luck!

Hi. Poor Sunny. I know it may seem abnormal, but it is common and normal to have a patient be quiet, lethargic, hide, skip a meal, and ecen be sore and whiny after a vaccine. Some vaccines affect patients more then others. I would not worry unless Sunny starts vlmiting, having excessive lethargy, hives, swelling, or trouble breathing. I would monitor and call your veterinarian if any further signs occur.

Based on what you are describing him I would be concerned about gastric stasis in your rabbit. This can be a common condition that occurs when a bunny stops eating. The stomach will fill with a lot of gas and the rabbit will be very painful and uncomfortable. If you are able to continue giving the critical care supplement I would recommend doing that. If Pepper stops eating that, continues to seem lethargic, or stops pooping, then you will need to take him into the vet to be examined because other medications will be needed to help restore GI motility. Loss of appetite and lack of drinking can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Walter evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment and treatment.
