My rabbit's head is tilted and eyes flicker. What should I do?

Poor Thumper! Head tilts in rabbits are generally medical problems that need to be assessed and treated by a veterinarian. Often they are caused by an infection in the middle or inner ear that almost always require systemic antibiotics. Though here are occasionally other things that can cause these (tumors, abscesses, trauma, etc.) with Thumper being so young and you reporting no history of trauma they are lower on my list of differentials. I would get Thumper to his vet soon because the last thing you want is for him to start feeling badly, stop eating, and go into GI Stasis which can be life threatening. For that reason, I recommend that you have Lilly evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. If an infection is noted, medications could be recommended for that. Sorry to hear that Luna is having some issues. Sometimes in rabbits, symptoms that appear to be of a neurologic origin can actually have to do with problems with the ears. I would recommend having her ears thoroughly examined and cleaned if necessary. Another possibility is if Luna has been affected by the micro E. Cuniculi. This is a protozoal organism that can affected multiple bodily systems, one of which is neurologic. The treatment for this condition is typically antibiotics, dewormers, and anti-inflammatories. These would be my top two suspicions, so I would contact a vet who is familiar with rabbits and have her examined some time soon.

Head tilt in rabbits is either a sign of a brain parasite (most common) or a middle ear infection. it is not possible to know which of the two it is so it is usually recommended to treat both conditions simultaneously. you will need to take Tromso to the vet ASAP in order to get it treated, the sooner you do that the bigger his chances of recovery will be.

This head tilt may be due to trauma or an ear infection. Have Waffle physically examined by your veterinarian. A swab of the ear(s) can be examined under a microscope in the clinic to diagnose or rule out infection (bacterial, fungal, parasites). Afterwards, the appropriate medication can be dispensed.

Rabbits get ear mites commonly and it's very difficult to see all the way into a rabbit ear canal without the proper equipment. Schedule an exam with your rabbit vet to have his ears examined with an otoscope. He may need to be sedated for this, and your vet may want to do an ear cytology as well. I have used topical Revolution very successfully to treat rabbits in the past if this is his issue. Also, ear mites are very contagious between bunnies!

Rabbits are prey animals that are very good at masking their pain, so even if he seems okay to you, I would still assume he is in some pain and take him to the vet within the next 24 hours. Causes of head tilt include an inner or middle ear infection, or a neurological parasite called E. cuniculi. Causes of hind leg paralysis include spinal or head injury. The vet can perform a full physical exam, and may recommend taking x-rays. They can prescribe medications to help with pain and inflammation, and treat for infection if suspected.
