My rabbit has hard, popping lumps on her legs. What are they?

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | 7 lbs

I have noticed lumps on my rabbit near her front legs the first one I. Iticed popped and then healed the second just popped and now doing a check I have spotted three more I am unable to take her to the vet currently because of financial problems is there something I can do or at least know what this could be the lumps are hard on the putside but move around and kind of feel like a pimple but hard

Hi, and thanks for your question.
Although a picture of it would help to give you a more specific answer, this lump/bump/growth should be ideally examined by your local vet to have a diagnosis established.
Usually vets want to perform an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy to sample the bump and determine its underlying nature.
Differentials would include skin cysts, infections, benign or more malignant type of tumors.

Unfortunately, I don't think we will be able to help you much without a photo. Can you please post again with some photos and some more information - like is the lump of skin hard or soft? Does the lump have a wound or scab on it? How long has it been there on his leg? Any injury to that leg that you know about?

All I can say without photos or more information is that a lump could be anything from an abscess (infection) to a tumor. Even with a photo I am not sure we would be able to tell you much. Lumps are things that need to be examined by a vet in person so really, your best bet is going to be to take Charlie to your vet for an exam.

However, if you want to post again we will try to see if we can give you more information. Thank you.

Thanks for reaching out about your rabbit and including a photo. This appears to be a trichofolliculoma (ingrown hair cyst). A veterinary visit is needed to remove (surgically) but need to wait until much older. Monitor for now, do not apply anything topically. Good luck.

My rabbit has a lump near her anus, eating fine. Urgent vet visit?

Lumps and bump can certainly be scary, especially since we usually don't have any idea what they are. As long as it is not effective Poppy's ability to urinate and defecate, and as long as she is eating / drinking / having a good energy level, there is not absolute rush to have her seen. However, I would definitely get her to the vet to have that area examined as soon as it is financially feasible to do so. It is in an area of the body where if the size increases, the mass could certain become problematic. It is best to deal with it sooner than later. If the area starts to grown in size by even 10%, I would not wait until the insurance kicks in and just get her somewhere to be examined. While I realize this isn't ideal, rabbits are very sensitive to changes in their health and have the ability to crash quickly if things are not hastily dealt with. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Gabi. I would recommend that he returns to the veterinarian for a procedure known as a fine needle aspirate. A small needle is used to collect a sample of cells from the mass. The cells are then evaluated under the microscope. The goal is to determine the type of mass and if it appears cancerous or not. This is not an emergency, but you will want to have him evaluated soon as he developed a second mass. I hope this information helps!
