My rabbit fell and is peeing randomly. How can I afford vet care?

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed | 10 lbs

my rabbit has fallen off our porch twice now. We live on the second floor. The second time she did it, a friend was holding her and she kept from his arms over the railing into a bush. She was perfectly fine minus being terrified, but now she's randomly urinating. I don't have the money to bring her in as my boyfriend and I are both disabled with a child each. Is there anything I can do myself to help her?

If paying for a vet is an issue, you can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify for one of their grants. Best Friends also has a list of resources that offer financial assistance on their website.

If the paw is dangling, I'd be very concerned that Ironwoman's foot if really hurt, maybe even broken. She has to see a vet asap. The signs that Marley are showing could be due to a urinary problem like feline idiopathic cystitis or bladder stones. The problem with bladder stones is that they can cause a urethral blockage, and that is fatal without treatment. He does have to see a vet now. My bunny can't walk, and I can't afford the vet. What should I do?

Unfortunately, figuring out why your rabbit is unable to walk is not going to be a simple matter. You should start by asking your self if it is possible that Lupita could have experienced something traumatic resulting in a break, strain, or sprain or a leg / back. Back problems are extremely common in rabbits and can unfortunately result in paralyzing injuries in many cases. Extremely weakness can make your bunny unable to walk, which can be the result of certain neurologic disorders or nutritional deficiencies. There are also certain parasites that can affect the central nervous system that will make your bunny unable to move around appropriately. While I can certainly appreciate your financial hardship, you may want to consider applying for something like CareCredit in order to get the funds needed to investigate this matter further with your veterinarian. Your bunny is going to have to be able to move around and get to the food and water bowl readily if she is going to be able to live a normal life. Hope this makes sense.

What to do for a found rabbit with a sore, red eyes, and brown pee?

What a cute bunny! From the photo the area on the skin looks as though it has healed- if there is a defect in the skin itself then an exam by the vet is recommended as he may need antibiotics. I cannot see any redness to his eyes in this photo, so I am not sure if you mean that his eye color is red or if he has red eye lids or the white of his eyes look red. If he is rubbing at his eyes/blinking alot, has excess tears or a green or yellow discharge from the eyes these would be cause for a vet exam as well. If he is not acting lethargic and is eating/drinking I would monitor the urine for a few days- if he becomes lethargic/is straining to pee/stops eating or drinking or the urine continues to look red then an exam is recommended.

Hello and welcome back. I am sorry that Cosmo isn't feeling well. When rabbits start showing signs of being sick then they are usually quite sick, so I would suggest stressing to your mom that your rabbit might be in pain or suffering and needs to see a vet so he doesn't hurt. If she still won't let you take him, then you can try getting 'Critical Care' Food from the petstore and try feeding this, or try mixing up some pineapple juice in some pellets and hay and see if Cosmo will eat this. You can always try calling around clinics to find the least expensive vet, or try calling your local humane society. If your bunny is very sick and seems painful some vets might see you for free for a euthanasia if Cosmo is very very ill. I hope Cosmo feels better soon!

My rabbit peed blood. Is it an emergency? When should I see a vet?

I am sorry to hear about Babycakes! If she had blood in her urine I would bring her in to the vet's office as soon as possible. Rabbits can be delicate creatures and the sooner they are seen if sick the better. The vet will examine Babycakes and may try to take a urine sample to check for infection and crystals and recommend an x-ray to check for bladder stones.
