If she hasn't been mated, a rectal prolapse is a more likely cause of the bleeding than the 2nd most likely cause...a vaginal prolapse. A rectal prolapse would look like an outpocketing of tissue from the anus. Application of neosporin and Preparation H ointment (alternating) twice daily each may be helpful. With some cases you can actually manually reduce the prolapse by pushing it back in. I recommend examining the area closely and if the above steps do not improve her symptoms, perhaps a friend can take her to a vet with you.

Without a picture, my only recommendation for anything that is actively bleeding is to seek out a veterinarian right away. This is particularly true for small mammals such as rabbits as they do not have much blood to begin with. If it is possible that Chocolate could have been bitten by something on the penis, this can definitely become problematic. Hi, it is not normal to bleed so profusely , I would definitely have him reassessed ! Could it be that the penis has been swollen for some time ? If so, it is better to have him checked over sooner rather than later as permanent damage to the penis can occur that can eventually end up in a an operation. Remember that Euro’s breed tolerates pain much better than other breeds but even a small injury causes a lot of pain in this area which is extremely well vascularised. Hi Natalie, i have a feeling she might have injured her tail, try checking for a wound or a cut on the tail. if this is not it, it might be a urinary infection. in both cases she will need to be seen by a vet and she will need a course of antibiotics.

It sounds like he has a degloving injury to his tail. If there is bone showing, then he needs to see a vet right away. This can easily get infected, and he will need antibiotics to prevent it. In a degloving injury of a rat's tail, the skin and tissue do not grow back, and the bone showing may need to be removed surgically. This will be painful to him as well, and he will need pain medications for it. I would take him into a vet now.
