Why are my two male rabbits humping? Is one actually a female?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | unneutered

My bunnies keep on having sex and I’m worried that I am going to end up with baby bunnies, we were told they are both male, is it normal for 2 male rabbits to have sex or is there more chance of one bro g female?

Mounting behavior is not unusual but I would recommend to have both rabbits checked out to be sure they are both males! You definitely don't want a bunch of baby rabbits! Male rabbits can sometimes become aggressive so neutering them is a good option to decrease aggression. You can discuss the surgery with the doctor during the visit to see if this is a good option for you.
