When can I safely lift my rabbit after spay surgery without pain?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | spayed | 9 months and 26 days old | 3.5 lbs

My rabbit was spayed 4th Dec. Has it been long enough for me to be able to lift her, supporting her stomach area (without causing any pain)?

Yes! Usually the incision should be healed within two weeks. If the incision looks red, swollen, or has any discharge then it may not be healed and might actually be infected. I would let a vet take a look at it if that is the case. Otherwise, you should be good to handle her and not hurt her!
