Found a friendly bunny. How to tell if it's wild or a lost pet?

We were up in the mountains in Utah the other day and we caught a bunny, it wasn’t wild because it actually came to us and wanted us to pet it. We think that some one lost a pet. An adult has the bunny now and he is going around asking whose it might be and if it isn’t anyone’s he’s giving it to a shelter. Anyway, I was wondering what kind of bunny it was?

Without a clearer image, it is difficult to determine breed. It may indeed be a wild rabbit just by looking at the coat, size, color and ears.
There are about 40 other breeds though that exhibit those same characteristics, so a close physical exam would be needed to definitively determine breed.

This looks very much like an English Spot rabbit. Unfortunately there are many cross breeds out there, so, unless the rabbit comes from a breeder directly and with pedigree papers, there really is no way to determine what breed a rabbit is.

Can you help identify my rabbit's breed? What kind of bunny is this?

Hello! What a cute bun! Blue looks like a Hotot rabbit - if he's under 3 pounds, he's likely a Dwarf Hotot, and if over 3lbs, he's likely a Blanc de Hotot. If you're unsure of his lineage, he could be a mix, but I'm pretty sure he's mostly a Hotot. Good luck with beautiful Blue! :)

Can a DNA test tell me my new rabbit's age, breed, or gender?

I am afraid there is no test. However if you only bought the rabbit recently, you can go back to the shop and they can tell you what age their rabbits were at a certain time of sale. As for the gender : male rabbits have two elongated testicles, one each either side of the penis, Females just have a little slit. As for its breed , you can upload a good photo from the side and we can try to figure out what breed your rabbit is.

This is not a rat bought from the store. This is a wild rat. It is not possible to determine what type of rat it is from this picture, as the head and back is not visible and the size is not determinable.
