Why is my hedgehog's penis swollen, pooping everywhere, and rubbing?

Swelling and changes in behavior could indicate Kozmo might be having some illness that is causing hind end irritation as well. It is best to have a vet take a look at him, especially if this has been happening for more than a day, or Kozmo is showing signs of illness such as changes in behavior, lethargy, loss of appetite, etc. Male hedgehogs don't go into heat as they aren't the ones that carry a pregnancy. A heat cycle occurs when a female is ovulating and ready to mate and create babies. Males instead produce the sperm to impregnate females. Males that are intact and excited may have some swelling of the hind end, however you indicated Kozmo was neutered.

Not sure if this is part of the anorexia problems or a second problem, but a veterinary visit is recommended. Try wetting the food and offer through a syringe. Hello! Quilliam could have any number of problems. His feces could be green and mucousy from parasites, a bacterial infection, a liver problem, or from eating something he shouldn’t have. In order to get a better idea what is going on, the feces should be examined for parasites, fungus, and bacteria. A full physical exam and perhaps X-rays or blood work would also be helpful and your veterinarian would be able to do this. There isn’t really anything you can do at home aside from evaluate his diet and make sure he isn’t eating inappropriate food or items. Good luck.

If he is licking the area all the time, it is not normal, it's more likely he is suffering from either an injury in the area or a urinary infection. i would recommend taking Winston to the vet in order to get it checked.

This cannot be completely assessed just by looking at pictures and usually requires sampling such as fine needle aspiration to determine its origin. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach! I would recommend using a Q-tip to remove the bedding piece. I would recommend wetting the tip of it first as a dry Q-tip will cause some irritation. If it is too difficult to remove, you will likely need to bring him to a veterinarian to have him sedated to have the piece removed. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction! A swollen back end including blood is worrisome, and sign that he is quiet and eating less, is even more serious. You should see a veterinarian tomorrow. Good luck.
