My hamster has a painful stomach lump. Is it a tumor? What's the cost?

Hello, I have a Roborovski dwarf hamster, about 3 weeks ago I saw this big lump in my stomach’s hamster. I really don’t know what I can do? Or what that is? Could it be a tumor? And is there a possibility to remove it and how much would it be. He also has a wound that I imagine he made it to himself because that big lump must hurt. Please help me. Thank you.

This is most likely a tumor, which are common in hamsters. it's usually possible to remove such a tumor surgically but of course the risks of anesthesia in hamsters are quite high. price wise this could range between 300-500$.

Hamsters can get papillomas (warts) or cancerous masses as well as skin infections. While removal is likely to be one of the best options, you should try to keep the area as clean as possible and look out for any bleeding or ulceration of the growth. I am so very sorry to hear of your concern for Snoopy. It is difficult for us to say without being able to palpate/feel the area. A tumor or cancer is possible but we could also possibly have an abscess or wound here- if he had somehow injured himself on his cage or if he is with another hamster who injured him. I think it is worth bringing Snoopy to a vet if you are able for an exam.

My old dwarf hamster has a leg lump. How can I make him comfortable?

These types of tumors are very common in old hamsters, they do tend to grow fast too. it's not possible to know how long he has left, but probably not very long. if the problem is affecting him locally only, there is a surgical option to have it removed, which is the only thing that can help at this point.

Ideally, Buddy should be physically examined by your veterinarian. Aspirates can be done on the lumps to collect samples for pathology. Why does my hamster have a lump behind its front leg? Is it cancer?

This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. My hamster has a rapidly growing lump on its side. Should I worry?

If it has grown rapidly, there is cause for concern. See your veterinarian for an exam. A simple needle aspirate biopsy submitted for pathology can frequently determine the makeup of most lumps.
