My guinea pig won't eat or drink; is it grieving a lost friend?

My guinea pig wont eat or drink water. About 3 weeks ago our other guinea pig died. Could it be sad?

It is not typical to see guinea pigs mourning although it is possible. I would be more worried that this guinea pig may be coming down with an illness especially since you had another guinea pig die recently. I suggest you get him/her to a vet for an exam as soon as you can to rule out a medical reason for the symptoms.

    Since you have already lost a guinea pig and now the second one is ill. you must take it to a veterinarian for an exam. It may have a malocclusion problem or a digestion problem, or a hair ball in its stomach , or a lack of vitamin C or one of many other diseases, and may die, too, if it does not get help from a vet. Guinea pigs need to eat. If they do not eat their gut bacteria will die and the guinea pig starves to death. Please take it to a Pet ER tonight. This is an emergency.
