I would not recommend this as their main staple diet. I strongly encourage finding a commercial diet that can provide him all of him vitamins and nutrients that he needs. Also you can feed fresh fruits and veggies. Guinea pigs do not produce their own Vitamin C so consider feeding him some fresh fruits and veggies that are high in VitC like kiwi, red/yellow bell pepper, and oranges.

It is best to give them things to chew on that are made for guinea pigs but if you are going to use boxes it is best for them to be plain with no writing/ink. Here are some good treats for them. No, sorry, he needs to eat the guinea pig food. Guinea pigs need a special diet that contains a lot of vitamin C as their body cannot make it on it's own. The hamster diet is not balanced for guinea pigs.

Pellets can be used as a supplement, but free choice to a good quality hay (timothy, not alfalfa) is the primary diet for guinea pigs. Since their teeth (incisors and cheek teeth) grow throughout life, hay is helpful on wearing the teeth down as it requires lots of chewing. It is also low in calories, which is good. The diet can be supplemented with 1/4 c of fresh vegetables. Good luck.

Indeed you can! They contain phosphorus and calcium, which should not be fed so often, but they do contain a healthy amount of vitamin c. The best would be to feed them only once a week as raw, uncooked treat.
