My ferret hit his head. Light red fluid from nose: CSF or blood?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

My ferret hit his head pretty hard and fluid was coming out of his nose. It didn't look red enough to be blood and were worried to could be csf. It's a light red and only had a couple drops come out.

It would be practically impossible to leak csf through the nose from such an injury and unless the impact actually killed him instantly. I would recommend a vet check and antiinflammatory medications especially if his balance, swallowing or jaws are affected
