My ferret has an ear lump pushing out the canal. What's wrong?

This looks like an infection or mass. Since it's getting bigger I recommend a veterinary exam. They can tell more when they feel it and see if it's painful or has fluid inside. They can take a needle aspirate and determine if it's infection or a tumor. Then depending on the diagnosis a treatment plan can be developed. Now it's not that large so I'd have it checked soon as if it continues to enlarge it may be more difficult to treat. This growth in Zeus's ear could be due to a cyst, an abscess, a benign tumor, or a malignant tumor. Any suspicious growths should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the growth to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. I would have Zeus seen a vet on Monday to have his growth examined and diagnosed so it can be treated.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Based on the pictures, it appears that Nikko has a growth or a mass at the entrance of his ear canal. It could be normal tissue that is overgrown due to inflammation, it could be an fluid filled swelling (seroma or abscess) or it could be mass. Masses can be benign or cancerous. If he is shaking his head and the ear is sensitive he could also have an ear infection. The growth could be contributing to an infection. Most ear infections are due to overgrowth of yeast and/or bacteria. Your Vet can look in his ear and look at a sample of the ear wax under the microscope to diagnose an infection. Due to the growth and the possible ear infection I think it would be best to have Nikko examined by your Vet. I hope this helps and I wish you and Nikko the best!

Hello. Because of this lesions' change in size & color, I would recommend just having it removed. It looks like a melanoma, but would need histopathology to definitively diagnose it. It is small so removal should be pretty easy. This would be a good time to have your veterinarian take a good look deep into Moka's ears. Poor guy. This lump appears to be a huge mass and possible polyp. You will need to get this tested by your vet and seriously consider surgical removal of the mass. If left there this mass has a good chance of causing chronic ear infection, pain, and also can continue to grow. It is best to get this removed, so please consult with your veterinarian to devise a good plan for Little Bit in the near future. I hope that LIttle bit's ear mass gets resolved soon.
