My female bunny has lumps near her scent glands. Are they testicles?

Thank you for your question about Luna, and thank you for the photos - they are very helpful. Luna's testicles are of a normal size for a rabbit. This species has very prominent testicles, and the sparse fur that is present on the surface of the scrotum often makes them look even larger. I cannot appreciate any abnormalities on the surfaces of either testicle with the photos that you have attached either. Hi, it looks like a potential hernia from his previous neutering wound on the scrotum, but it is difficult to tell from sure from this picture only. I would recommend to see another vet with lots of experience/specialised in exotics to give you the best advice. I think it would be better to have it treated as to leave it would just cause ulceration to the area by being in contact with urine and feaces. Hope this helps

This kind of lump/growth needs to be ideally assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). Differentials include skin cysts, infections, benign or more sinister type of tumors. The black tarry accumulation is often the oil from the gland and can be gently cleaned with a warm wet washcloth. The yellowish discharge is probably front the scent gland also, and can be normal. Regarding possible mucus from the rectum, often associated with dietary inflammation, so limit vegetables and other treats. If mucoid stool continues, a veterinary visit is recommended to assess as intestinal parasites or infections, possible. Good luck.
