Why is my female mouse bleeding from a red growth on her genitals?

If she hasn't been mated, a rectal prolapse is a more likely cause of the bleeding than the 2nd most likely cause...a vaginal prolapse. A rectal prolapse would look like an outpocketing of tissue from the anus. Application of neosporin and Preparation H ointment (alternating) twice daily each may be helpful. With some cases you can actually manually reduce the prolapse by pushing it back in. I recommend examining the area closely and if the above steps do not improve her symptoms, perhaps a friend can take her to a vet with you.

Rats are notorious for getting tumors. That is what this looks like however, the location of me makes me worry it could be some sort of prolapse. You will need to get her to a vet for an exam so you can get a diagnosis and then know how to go about treating her.

I agree that the area in question on Yolandi does appear swollen. Is she housed with any other mice? Is there any chance she could be pregnant ? If not then I would be concerned about the potential of an abscess (infection), or possibly a tumor that could be altering her hormone levels. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! From the photo, it does not appear that Chino’s abdomen is distended and she seems quite active. It is not uncommon for mice to lose pregnancies and resorb the fetuses, and this may have happened in Chino’s case. I recommend keeping a close eye on her to make sure she is eating and drinking normally and does not appear hunched or unkempt as these may be signs of dystocia or difficulty giving birth. First of all, Maizy looks more like a rat in the picture, unless she is an extremely large mouse. the lesions looks like a wound at the moment, but if it started as a lump it could be an abscess or a tumor. you will have to take her to an exotic vet specialist to get this checked and treated, if it is an infection she will need a course of antibiotics in order to heal properly.

This could be an intestinal infection or foreign body can lead to straining and the prolapse. A veterinary visit is highly recommended, as soon as possible as even though seems to come and go, so could become more serious. Try cleaning the tissue with a mild soap. A cloth soaked in sugar solution, can sometimes be used to reduce tissue swelling. Good luck.
