My female bunnies keep eating my male bunny's ear. Why and what to do?

Ouch! Those definitely look like fighting wounds. The ear one is a little deep and could become infected. I would try to keep it clean and treat it with some triple antibiotic ointment if you can. If you see that it is not clearing up or it is getting worse, systemic drugs could be required. If you see that he is starting to scratch at the ear due to pain or bother, he is going to require an e-collar. Depending on the size of the rabbit, it may be hard to fine one that fits commercially. Fortunately, you will be able to find instruction on how to create a homemade one if the time comes. In terms of their behavior, definitely keep them separated until you get them fixed. Once that it is done, you can try to reintroduce them, but do so slowly and over at least a couple of weeks. It should be done so under close supervision as well to avoid any more bunny injuries.

Thanks for reaching out about Bun Bun. A wound needs to be kept clean. Gently clipping hair around the wound to prevent hair contamination. Gently clean with mild soap and warm water. Do not apply any topical antibiotics as many can infect the rabbit's gastrointestinal tract if ingested. The rabbits might need to be separated. Altering both rabbits might decrease aggression. I would check the product instructions and follow that. I recommend that you have Oreo evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hello, I would recommend taking Bun Bun into a veterinarian to be examined. Recurring scabs may be a sign of a chronic infection with a bacteria called Pasteurella, which is a common problem in rabbits. Scabs could also be coming from a fungal infection, commonly called ringworm, that can be spread to people. Scabs could also come from herself scratching- a parasitic infection of mites or fleas may be causing her scratch excessively. Most of these problems can be treated fairly easily with a course of medications once they are properly diagnosed. If the scabs are coming from being attacked by her sister, she needs to live separately from her for her own safety. I hope this is helpful. You need to separate the bucks (males). The adult sees the younger buck as a rival, especially in the presence of the does (females). It would be recommended to separate the bucks from each other and from the does. A doe can begin to breed as early as 6 months of age. Leave them together and you may find yourself overwhelmed with rabbits very quickly.
