Rodney is probably suffering from a respiratory infection, many rats are infected with a bacteria called mycoplasma that is causing this condition. you will need to take him to the vet in order to get it treated, a course of special antibiotic will be prescribed for 3 weeks.

Poor Scout! I am so sorry for your loss and traumatic event. It is hard to say exactly what was going on but she have contracted some weird type of viral infection or bacterial meningitis causing these symptoms. Rats are also known for getting cancer and a brain tumor certainly could have caused similar symptoms. Again I am sorry for your loss. Hang in there!

I am very sorry you lost your cats! That is terrible. Unfortunately the only way to find out what killed your kitties is to have a post mortem done. There are so many possible causes, starting with household cleaners, insecticides, rodenticide, snake bites, toxins, and also infectious disease.
