Why is my chinchilla biting me? Are pinecones safe for chinchillas?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Other | Unknown - Other | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 5 days old

re pinecones safe for chinchillas and are they recommanded or shouldn't I give him that at all? Another thing, my chin is always biting me, sometimes more or less, it didn't seems like he is angry or similar and I thought it's maybe because his not so old yet? I am always making sure he has a lot of things ti chew on but I was just wondering what's the meaning of it and if it's normal because I am letting him now that he shouldn't do it :D Thanks a lot :)

Pine cones are not safe for chinchillas. The sap or resins within may cause illness. Safe woods include untreated and dried pine, bamboo, elm and willow.
He may be chewing out of curiosity. Continue to provide safe chew toys an d items for Bobby to use. Correct him immediately when he chews inappropriately.
