My new bunny has a yellow nose and is scratching. Is it scabies?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 1 day old | 1lb

My 8 weeks fuzzy lop rabbit has something like yellowish thing on her nose, only a little bit though but her nose doesn't seem clean n i can see it clearly bcause her fur is white. Could it be scabies?because she sometimes scratch around her nose & ears too. I just brought her home 2 days ago and she seems picky in food. First day she ate hay n pellet i gave, second day she didnt eat the hay only hay-based pellet n today she only want to eat the non hay based pellet which i got from the breeder.

Thanks for reaching out about Chloe and including pictures. By the photos, it is difficult to identify the discharge, but yellow nasal discharge is often an indication of a nasal infection. Try cleaning with a warm wet cloth, and monitor for sneezing and continued discharge. If discharge continues, a veterinary visit is recommended.
Good luck.
