My new 7-week-old bunny keeps licking and scratching. What's wrong?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 27 days old

I recently got a 7 week old bunny, she is generally happy (eating normally, playing around, and sleeping while laying down sometimes). But she is at times excessively licking herself, mostly her paws and scratching herself with her legs. Is she okay?

Hello, thank you for using Pet Coach.

If she has no spots of hair loss/baldness and the skin looks normal then this may be normal behavior for her. That being said, she could have a skin parasite or allergies too. It is impossible for me to diagnose her over the internet. I suggest you get Cookie to a vet for an exam if this behavior persists or you start noticing bald spots or skin issues.

Best wishes.
