Is this a serious condition/injury? A few weeks ago I noticed some skin was shedding, and gradually became worse over the weeks, now blood is visible.

Thanks for reaching out about Turtur and including photos. This does appear serious and needs to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Open wounds such as this can easily be contaminated by the water in which they live. Does Turtur live with another turtle, as they will often bite each other in the rear area. Systemic antibiotics, pain medications and wound care are probably needed. For now, keep Turtur in a dry, warm environment, out of water. Turtles can stay dry for prolonged periods of time and be fine. See your veterinarian today.
Good luck.
