My leopard gecko won't eat after being lost. Could it be parasites?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Reptile | Gecko | Female

Four months ago my leopard gecko got lost. We found her yesterday starved but alive. She’s been drinking just fine and gets her calcium but I haven’t seen her eat or any attempts to yet. I’m also unsure about parasites and any help to check for those would be amazing

Hello,

When reptiles become stressed or sick, they often quit eating. I would recommend taking Leo in to be seen by a veterinarian who can assess if she needs medical treatment to regain her appetite.
The best way to check for parasites is by looking at a fecal sample under the microscope. Your vet can help get this test done for you.

I hope this is helpful.
