My leopard gecko has a belly bulge and skinny tail. Is it constipation or parasites?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

my leopard gecko has a bulge in her belly but her tail is getting skinny. I need to know whether it's constipation causing the bulge and skinny tail or parasites. she will not let me look at her stomach with the light, so I cannot check for white spots/any dark areas.

Thanks for reaching out about Crystal. Unfortunately can not give you an answer, as a veterinary visit would be needed for a diagnosis. Try a shallow warm water bath for 5-10 minutes to see if this will stimulate defecation. If truly constipated, an enema might need to be performed at the vet, and at then a fecal sample can be checked for parasites.
Good luck.
