What kind of land turtle did I find in Israel that won't eat?

If you are able to take a photo of the turtle to post on our site, we may be able to help identify the type of turtle. Without seeing it, it is impossible to say just by describing the bumps on its shell as some different species can appear to have bumps. The safest thing to do is probably to replace the turtle where you found him in your yard, as he may have already had an idea where he was headed, unless you are afraid your pet may eat him.

Hatchlings do not need third mother's. They hatch and leave the nest site immediately to search for food and live their lives. Ideally, you should have the the tortoise examined by a veterinarian experienced in treating reptiles. He or she will be able to determine the species after which detailed care information can be provided. Hello, Reptiles are cold blooded, and require controlled temperatures at all time in captivity. Noor likely became malnourished, dehydrated, and very cold in her time outside of her enclosure. This can lead to many different problems. It is difficult to force turtles to eat, and many require feeding tubes to get nutrition when they are ill. I would recommend taking Noor to a veterinarian. Hemorrhage under the shell can also appear like this. Check and correct husbandry especially water and environmental temperature. A veterinary visit could help assist with diagnosis and treatment. Thanks for reaching out about Sebastian and including pictures. Points of interest to investigate would be: (1) heat support in the water, (2) nutrition, and (3) water quality. If the water temperature gets too low, turtles will slow and stop eating (acting as if hibernating). The water quality needs to be kept clean to decrease bacterial and algal overgrowth. Regarding nutrition, the package of pellets needs to be changed every 3-4 months as vitamins degrade quickly. Offering diced vegetables and whole fish (goldfish, tetras) can provide exercise and nutrition. If Sebastian remains quiet and lethargic, a visit to a reptilian veterinarian is recommended. You really need to take this turtle to the vet asap as it sound like it is incredibly sick. There will be nothing you can do at home to help it at this point. It would also be a good idea to isolate the other turtle. I'm not sure if you are taking a picture of them in a different tank, but the tank in the photo is not appropriate to keep turtles in, it is too small.
