My bearded dragon vomited. Is this normal, or should I be worried?

Hello, if this is a single event, I think it would be fine to closely monitor Cleopatra for any additional signs of illness like continued vomiting, anorexia, lethargy, etc. It’s entirely possible she just ate a bit too much or too quickly and then brought up some fluid. However, vomiting can indicate serious illness in bearded dragons, so don’t wait too long to see a veterinarian if it happens again. Sometimes, bearded dragons kept on walnut or sand bedding eat the bedding every time they eat a prey item and can get blockages in the GI tract. Also, tumors of the stomach can happen in bearded dragons, which can cause vomiting, as can general infection or illness.

I'm sorry Drakuo is so sick. It sounds like her needs to see a veterinarian. He may have a GI blockage or sand impaction if he's been kept on sand. Some metabolic diseases will also cause Beardies to vomit. I recommend getting him seen asap. Check temps in the enclosure first. Low temps can affect digestion which could lead to regurgitation. It can also cause stress resulting in the black beard. Other potential causes include impaction, constipation, overeating (less likely with a decreased appetite) or infection (bacterial, viral, parasites). Survey the area in and around the enclosure for other negative stimuli. Reduce or eliminate if found. Continue soaks in a 50/50 mix of water and unflavored PediaLyte. This will provide supplemental heat and may treat or prevent minor dehydration. Gently massage the abdomen, front to back, during the soak to stimulate defecation. If symptoms persist, have him examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites or bacterial overgrowth. Your vet may recommend x-rays to rule out or diagnose impaction, tumors or foreign body.

It is likely thst some of the toxin has entered her system, but hopefully most will have come up with the toad itself. She will lukely be off form a few days and have an upset tummy. If the vet isnt an option all you can do is nurse her, bathe her to try and keep hydration up and just keep a close eye on her.

Geckos are not toxic, but may carry parasites that could be harmful. At worst, you may see some temporary stomach upset. Consider a short fast followed by a b;and diet fed in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve. Transition slowly to the regular diet afterwards. My condolences on the loss of your gecko.

If regurgitates again, a veterinary visit is recommended. Intestinal parasites or infections are not uncommon. Systemic illnesses or husbandry problems (too cold) or diet problems (prey too cold or overheated) are also possible. Discuss your snake's husbandry and diet routine with your veterinarian. An x-ray maybe necessary to diagnose an obstruction or impaction. Get some Fluker's Repta-Boost at the local Petco. Offer it to get some nutrition into him. Soak in a warm 50/50 solution of water and unflavored PediaLyte for 20-30 minutes. Gently massage the abdomen, front to back, during the soak to stimulate defecation.
