My beardie's toe is dark, bent, and missing scales. Is it serious?

Pain medications and a bandage, in addition to the antibiotics would be recommended. Not all antibiotics treat all infections, so maybe another choice. Occasionally amputating the affected foot above the diseased area will stop the spread. A second veterinary visit is recommended to help. A veterinary visit is needed as this limb needs to be amputated before infection spreads further. Systemic antibiotics might slow spread but will not cure the limb. Sorry. This could be a result of prior injury, nutritional deficiency or congenital defect. Since Airez is "new" to you, an exam with your veterinarian or an experienced herp vet would be recommended. The missing nails should not pose a problem. If he isn't lame or does not seem bothered by his paw, then it may not be an issue but this would need to be confirmed after a physical exam.

These might be indications of the tail dying. Bearded dragons can also dislodge blood clots to the tips of the tail or toes, causing de-vitalization and necrosis. Continue to medicate Lenny as directed by your veterinarian. You can clean the affected area daily using diluted betadine or chlorhexidine (Hibiclens) solution. Consider a recheck if the toe is swollen after the course of antibiotics is finished.

It appears she has suffered injury to the nail or to the toe itself. If that is nail you're seeing, it may or may not grow back. If it doesn't, there really is no cause for concern. If that is bone that is exposed, then she needs to be physically examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles. The tip or the toe may need to be amputated and sutured closed to allow for healing. In the meantime, keep the area clean and dry. Use a diluted Betadine or chlorhexidine solution to gently clean it. A dab of triple antibiotic ointment can be used as well. Have her seen sooner rather than later since a potential bone infection can be life threatening.
