Why is my Yorkie dog licking lips, swallowing, and making hiccup motions?

It sounds like Holly could be having some nausea since she is licking her lips and swallowing or possibly abdominal/back pain. If it continues than she should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. Your vet can do an examination, run lab work, and take x-rays, if needed, to help diagnose and then prescribe medications to help treat her problem. She may need some gastric protectants, antacids and/or pain medication. Hope she feels better soon.

Is Yoshi still eating? The licking lips and burping can be a sign of nausea. I would recommend getting an exam done especially if he is not eating. If the sleeping is more than normal, then I’d be worried that he is lethargic. Nausea and lethargy are both good reasons to get avoid exam done. These are general signs of stomach upset, she feels that something is not right in her gastrointestinal tract and she tries to make it better by licking the floor (usually when a dog has access to grass they will ingest grass). She is probably suffering from a gastrointestinal infection, possibly due to something bad she ate. withhold food for 12 hours then offer her boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if she is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put her back gradually on her normal food. If she continues vomiting or is not eating, take her to the vet to get treatment.

It sounds like your dog was nauseous, and dogs can lick things when they are nauseous. I can give you a home remedy for the vomiting to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. Causes of vomiting are: intestinal parasites, viral infections (like parvo), foreign body ingestion (something is stuck and requires surgery to remove), pancreatitis, toxin ingestion, ingested something that is upsetting her stomach, food allergies or intolerance. If Charlie is vomiting while being fasted he should be seen today on Emergency. You can with hold water for 4-6 hours and food until monday am. Offer water after 4-6 hours as ice chips and as small amounts. If there is no further vomiting by the morning then offer a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day. Feed as small frequent meals. If Charlie continues to vomit while fasted, after water or food is reintroduced or will not eat he needs to see a Vet. Hello. It was good that you put Lily's food up. A small fast of 8-12 hours will not hurt, then tomorrow feed her very small amounts of plain cooked chicken breast, plain cooked white rice (preferably not minute rice) , & small amounts of lo-fat cottage cheese.
