When should I start feeding my 10-month-old puppy adult dog food?

The amount to feed a pet is dependent upon the' pet's activity level, metabolism and the calories found in the diet. The back of the dog food package will list how much to feed the 'average' dog. Since Amber is only 10 month's old, she should still be eating a puppy formula until she is one year old and then she can transition to an adult formula. The brand Royal Canin is an excellent food and it's puppy formulas will recommend to amount to feed based upon size and age (so it's a little more exact). You can monitor his growth and weight and when he has reached maturity then you can switch him to an adult dog food. Probably between 12 and 16 months of age. Gradually switch him to the new food as diet change can cause gastric upset. Too much protein should not make him hyperactive.

I would continue her on a puppy food until she is 1 year old. At that time you can transition to to an adult maintenance food. When you transition her be sure to mix the old food with her new food for at least 7-10 days to help prevent an upset tummy. I hope this helps!

If Teddy is still acting completely normal, eating his regular amount and maintaining his weight, I wouldn't worry too much. Some dogs will prefer to only eat once a day and do just fine. The 9 to 12 month range is when I normally recommend transitioning to an adult food, so you could start doing that and see if he wants to eat once or twice a day. If he starts losing weight, doesn't have the energy he used to have, or develops vomiting or diarrhea, I would be concerned there is something more serious going on and would have him examined by your veterinarian.

Great question! Mila should be on puppy food until she is 12 months old. After that, she will then be old enough for an adult dog food. Weight doesn't play a factor, age is the determination for the life stage switch. I hope this helps!

That should be OK for one bag. If possible after this bag I would go back to a puppy food for another month or two months depending on how large your puppy is. Some labs will continue to grow for 12 to 18 months of age others plateau around 10 to 12 months. If there's any doubt if your puppy us on the growing stage you can ask your veterinarian.

A ten month old dog should be eating a diet formulated for growth, aka a puppy diet, until they are at least 12 months old. The top dog food brands that we recommend are Hills, Purina, and Royal Canin. But, any dog food that is NOT grain free, or vegetarian or vegan, should be healthy for your dog. I hope this is helpful!
