When should I start feeding my puppy hard food or dry kibble?

If the soft food is very wet he doesn't need to drink much water. You can put some water on your finger by the bowl to get him started or have a little bit of milk in the water so it tastes better. No worries. Dry food can be introduced as early as 3-4 weeks, as long as it is softened.Then by 6 weeks of age your pet can be on dry kibble only (no softening needed) if desired. Your pet Soska doesn’t need to be in any softened food at her age. I hope this helps. Take care!

Most dogs this age can eat hard puppy food just fine - so if he likes it and doesn't seem to have trouble chewing it, I wouldn't worry :) If he seems to have some difficulty, you can moisten it with some warm water and let it soak for a few minutes to soften before giving it to him, or feed canned food instead.

Congratulations on your new puppy - Phoenix is absolutely adorable! Puppies begin to get their baby teeth around 5-8 weeks of age, so Phoenix is just around that age. You can check his mouth for signs of teeth eruption and begin feeding him dry food if a majority of his baby teeth are present. He can continue to have moistened puppy food, but slowly transition to dry puppy food over the next week or so.

Trusty can of course eat dry food! Sometimes if they seem uninterested you can add a little warm water to soften the food but this most likely is not needed. I would recommend sticking with a basic hard puppy food and not mixing in human foods. Giving human food to dogs is a hard habit to break the earlier you start it. IF Trusty is on a well rounded dog food she should not need supplementation. Hope that helps

You might consider soaking the dog food to make it softer/easier to eat since he is still young. Mixing a small amount of rice or cooked chicken breast or lean ground beef may entice him we just don't want him to fill up on those alone. I am not familiar with the Canine Creek food, be sure it is appropriate for puppies or switch to the Royal Canin puppy food as this is a reliable/trustworthy brand.

Teething can be painful for puppies, so I would try softening his dry food with warm water, or you can add gently warmed low sodium beef or chicken broth to the dry food to make it softer for him to eat. There are also chew toys you can get for Kiba from the pet store that can be frozen in the freezer, which will help soothe his mouth.
