Why is my Westie confused, restless, shaking head, and hiding?

My dog a west highland terrier seems a bit confused And restless and shakes his head now and then and keeps walking fast a trying to hide

Is there anything he could have gotten into, such as chocolate, coffee grounds, prescription medications, etc? What you are describing could be due to a toxicity of some kind. Put your hand on his chest right at the point where the left elbow meets his chest, and you should be able to feel his heartbeat. Count the rate. If his heart rate is over 140 beats per minute, take him to an emergency vet. If he overall seems to be ok and his heart rate isn't above 140, its reasonable to give him 12 hours or so and see if he improves. However, if he seems to be getting worse of if any additional symptoms are noted, please take him in. Thanks for asking Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
