My unspayed dog is vomiting, weak, and not herself. Should I worry?

HI my dog Bubbles I believe is sick or she might be I really don't know. Symptoms- Vomiting Watery eyes Weakness Refuses to interact with us (This is the first time she's ever been sick) Please answer should I be worried?? Is it something serious?

I would be very concerned about Bubbles, and take her into a vet immediately. I see that she isn't spayed, which means she can develop a life threatening infection of the uterus called a pyometra. A pyometra is fatal without treatment, and it causes vomiting, weakness, and lethargy, all signs she is showing. Without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain if she has one or not, but because of the seriousness of a pyometra I would take her into vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Lola sounds very sick. I see she isn't spayed, and she could have a pyometra causing her symptoms. A pyometra is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. This cannot be treated at home, she has to see a vet immediately.

I'm sorry Bony is sick! Heavy breathing can be a sign of pain, and it can be connected to the vomiting. I see that she isn't spayed, and in dogs who aren't spayed, a pyometra is a risk. This is when the uterus becomes infected, and it does cause pain and vomiting. A pyometra is fatal without treatment, and is considered a medical emergency. She could also have a GI illness, a foreign body, or pancreatitis causing her symptoms. Because I can't see her in person to rule anything out out and due to the fact that a pyometra is so deadly, my recommendation is to take her into a vet now. The vet can diagnose what is causing her symptoms and how best to treat it. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. I hope this helps!

My unspayed dog vomited once and is now shaking. What's wrong?

Poor Lilly sounds like she isn't feeling well! The shaking can be due to pain and feeling unwell. There are a couple of things this could be including a GI illness, eating something rotten, a foreign body, or a pyometra. Dogs who aren't spayed are prone to developing these infections of the uterus which are fatal without treatment. I can give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, her abdomen becomes enlarged, you notice a smelly discharge from her vulva, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. If she does have a pyometra, that is a medical emergency and spaying her is part of the recommended treatment. Leaving it untreated is fatal. If you do have concerns that she could have a pyometra, I'd recommend taking her into a vet to be safe. I hope this helps!

Your poor pup! If she isn't spayed, I would be very concerned that she has a pyometra. This is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment, and it would cause a white discharge as well as vomiting. It sounds like your vet may have been suspicious she had a pyometra and tried treating it medically with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. Unfortunately the medical route often isn't successful, and surgery is needed to treat it. This means spaying her. I would take her back into the vet immediately, as this is a medical emergency. In any dog with a bloated belly and lethargy we also worry about things like a tumor that is bleeding, fluid in the belly due to heart or liver disease. All of these things require immediate veterinary care, so I would get Shiva to the vet today, the emergency vet if your vet is closed.
