Can two dogs share one fake grass potty in a townhouse with no yard?

Well, you have one heck of an undertaking to try to train 3 puppies at once. Housetraining a puppy is not as easy as you may think, and there are many things that can affect how easily a puppy is housetrained. Unfortunately, training multiple puppies at once and training to an indoor surface are all particular challenges with housetraining a puppy. That will train the puppies not to urinate or defecate anywhere else inside the house which can be a huge challenge with smaller dogs. So, my best suggestion would be to take the puppies outside to urinate and defecate, but to place the fake grass outside so they associate that with an appropriate area to urinate and defecate. Only once they are complely house trained would I start bringing the fake grass into the house (which will likely be a couple of months). If you do it too quickly, you will risk them always going in the house in inappropriate places. If taking them outside isn't an option for whatever reason, the only suggestion I would have is to confine them to an area that only contains fake grass (using a kennel or an X-Pen instead of the entire room). Again, the idea is that they never go anywhere except on the grass, so they won't have accidents in other areas of the house. Good luck! I hope that was helpful and gives you some ideas. Great question! Take them to the same spot each time to go potty. Their scent there will encourage them to go. Stay with them outside each time they goes to potty, at least until they are using the grass each time. When they goes outside on the grass, praise them and give them a treat.

I would continue to carry him out onto the grass and keep him on a leash on the grass until he goes and then reward him with a treat. You might also consider purchasing a product called Fresh Patch, which is a patch of sod in a cardboard container that you place on the ground and is used as an area where Jasper can go to the bathroom in the house or on the patio. Soil and feces can carry viruses for a long period of time, so trying to find an area Blakely can go where other dogs don't frequent is best until he has had at least 2-3 sets of shots (or the OK from your vet). If you don't have a spot like that, but have a patio area, you could try making your own "potty" area with a piece of sod or a litter box filled with dirt to get him used to going outside and on that substrate without as much confusion when you do transition to outside. Making sure you're taking him out often enough (every 1-2 hours for a 2 month old puppy, or after waking, eating, drinking, or playing) can also help reduce accidents since his bladder can't hold it very long at this point.

You would want to train Clarice to it just like you would regular potty training. Dogs are very substrate-specific, and at her age she likely is used to going on actual dirt or grass. You may want to add some dirt to where you are trying to teach her to go, and take her every hour or so to keep giving her chances to sniff and try it out. If she does go, rewarding with her praise and treats can help.

If you are worried it is becoming too hot outdoors for Eva to go, then yes, you can certainly placed some artificial grass in the crate with her. Just ensure you can easily remove the grass and clean the crate easily. There is always some risk. Parvovirus lives in the environment for 5+ years so you can bring it home on your shoes any day. Certainly on areas where dogs defecate there can be a higher possibility if virus present, but as long as you are vaccinating at 3-4 week intervals then you are providing the best immunity possible.
