How to transition my dog-aggressive dog to apartment living safely?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 15 years and 2 months old | 70 lbs

Hi! We are moving into an apartment with our 70lb pit mix. She is lazy and will get plenty of walks. That does not concern me what does is she is dog aggressive. I often muzzle her on walks but I am scared how that will look in hallways elevators etc I don't want people to fear her. She LOVES people! I guess I'm looking for transition tips. For this change.

A head harness such as the Gentle Leader or Halti will allow for more control and quicker corrections of negative behaviors. A pheromone product such as the Adaptil collar may decrease any anxiety associated with the move and new environment. If possible, gradually acclimate her to your new neighbors one at a time. Use plenty of praise and rewards as she progresses.
