Why is my dog licking one paw and limping? Is it an internal injury?
Hello. I am so sorry for your worries with Cider. It is unusual for allergies just to be in one foot, usually they will lick & chew at both front or even all 4 paws. With a limp, I would be more inclined to think this was some kind of soft tissue injury, like a strain, sprain or even some tendonitis. Rest & anti-inflammatory medication is the usual remedy, so you will need to talk to your veterinarian about this. Depending on Cider's age, arthritis may be at issue, so an x-ray of the foot may be offered. If nothing is found on x-ray, a trial of rest & an anti-inflammatory might be tried for several weeks & if this still does not take care of the problem, more diagnostics in the way of a MRI might be in order. Hopefully, she will respond nicely to just resting the leg & some medication. Thanks for contacting pet
coach.
