How to stop my puppy from chewing shoes, plants, and dangerous wires?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Usually these behaviors can be corrected but this usually needs in person training by a qualified dog trainer. I recommend you consider hiring a qualified dog trainer to work with you in person. You can try using positive reinforcement by focusing on the positive meaning when he listens to you and stops chewing you start rewarding him with treats and praise. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would assume she is doing this to get his attention to play. Bella is young and needs a lot of exercise and interaction. I would add more walks or play time. Consider enrolling her in doggie daycare a few times per week. Otherwise I would have a leash on her at all times and when she starts this behavior, pull her down, make her sit and remove her from the situation. Consider 5-10 mins in "time out" in another room or crate. Then exercise her. I hope this helps!

I would recommend using a bitter tasting solution such as bitter apple or something very hot such as cayenne pepper and apply it to the things you do not want Peyton to chew on. Allow him to grab the object with the substance applied to it and when he drops it because of the bad taste, say "no!" to reinforce that this is not an acceptable behavior. I hope this helps! Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Milo is adorable! Sadly there are some small breed dogs that will just not house train. But I think also that some owners give up because it is so hard. I think Milo needs to be crated when you aren't home due to his destructive nature and because he is not house trained. When you are home he should be leashed to you at all times and taken out very often. If he doesn't go when you think he should, he goes in the crate. All other rooms should be blocked by a door or gate so he can't wander off to eliminate in the house. Use special delicious treats, praise and play with him for 10 mins after he goes outside, even bring a favorite toy. He can never be out of the crate when you aren't home or when you are asleep. You can also train him to ring a bell when he needs to eliminate. It may take 2-3 months but if you are aggressive about it hopefully it will work. Also you may have to consider neutering him to fully eliminate marking behaviors. The destructive behavior will hopefully go away with age, but you can consider doggie daycare during the work week to decrease time in the crate. I hope this helps and I wish you and Milo the best!

I would recommend using deterrents such as bitter apple spray and spray it directly on your couch or use a spray bottle filled with water and every time you catch her chewing, spritz her in the face and say "off!". Loud noises such as a can filled with coins or an air horn can also help deter her from chewing. I hope this helps! Thank you for submitting your question regarding Shelley. I do not recommend allowing her to chew on old shoes or clothing unless you do not mind her chewing on any shoes or clothing in your home. She will not be able to recognize the difference the old ones you have given her and items you are currently using. Instead, she needs plenty of exercise and time out of the house (walks, fetch, etc.) I also recommend enrolling her in puppy classes. This will be mentally stimulating for her. Then be clear with what toys are hers and encourage her to use them. Be consistent with her and she will learn. It does take time though. Good luck!

Jasmine is adorable!! I would make sure when you cannot keep your eyes on Jasmine 100% put her in a crate. That way she cannot hurt herself. I would also make sure you tire her out. The reason for this is if she is so tired she shouldn't have the energy to chew the cords. I would walk/run/play outside with her multiple times a day. Also you can get a kong and put peanut butter in it. Then I would put it in the freezer. This will keep her occupied. Unfortunately some dogs never grow out of the chewing phase.
