What are the signs it's time to let go of my struggling senior dog?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 13 years and 3 months old | 65 lbs

When do you know it's time to let go? Have a 13 yo black lab that won't go outside anymore and she's stumbling around. Blind in 1 eye and can't hear.

You need to assess Trudy's quality of life. If her quality of life is decreased from what is "normal" for her then I would say it is time. These articles may help you better.

Hope this helps. So sorry you are having to make this decision. Best wishes.
