Advantage) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or Apoquel in order to stop the allergy.

That area of Albie looks inflamed! If he did not have these lesions yesterday, it may be a reaction to the shampoo. Rewash him in a hypoallergenic shampoo and rinse him very well. Over the counter antihistamines may also help the itching. You may also consider taking him to the veterinarian's office as they will have stronger medications that will work faster to make the itching go away. I hope Albie gets comfortable fast!

From the pictures, it could be that Zeus has a rash from a contact allergy, or this could be hives. Try giving him an oatmeal bath tonight to see if that helps with it. If it does not help with this skin problem or it gets worse, I would have him seen by a vet as soon as possible. Hello. It looks like Puck has some kind of skin sensitivity or allergy. If it just flares occasionally, then I would pick up an anti-inflammatory spray at Petco. Look for Zymox Spray with 0.5% hydrocortisone & use on any reddened skin areas. If the condition worsens or Puck shows increased sensitivities to the spray or other things seem to be bothering him, he may need additional treatments, but for mild irritations, this should work quite well. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for environmental allergies which require blood and/or skin tests. Allergies can be very frustrating to deal with at first but so rewarding at the end when we are able to treat them effectively!

Lesions like this are commonly bacterial and less commonly ringworm (which humans can get). Sometimes they are a problem by themselves but if they occur frequently or seem like they never go away fully, it can indicate and environmental or food allergy. Of the two allergies, environmental is the more common. You can wash those lesions every day. Once it is dry you can apply the salve as long as it is safe for pets, or coconut oil. Only a small amount is needed and you should rub it in well. Make sure Lambeau does not lick it as this could make it worse and ingesting those products may upset his stomach.
