Senior chihuahua: throat lump, drooling, coughing, struggling to walk?

Given Bella's age, my first thought on this cough is that it may be due to heart disease. That can be common in older dogs, and it would get worse over time. I would take her into the vet in the morning for a physical exam, and possibly blood work, a urinalysis, and chest x-rays. If she does have heart disease, the vet can prescribe medications for her symptoms. Unfortunately it's not curable, but it can be managed with medication. I hope this helps!

I'm sorry to hear Taco isn't doing well. Unfortunately, to determine what is going on, he'd need to be examined in person. It would be best to have your vet perform a few tests such as bloodwork (to check organ function and for any illness), an X-ray (to check the throat for obstructions or the growth pressing on his chest or lungs) and a possible sample of the lumps to determine what they are (fatty tumors, growths, cysts, cancerous tumors, etc). Your vet can then help you determine what the best course of action would be for helping Taco feel more comfortable.

This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Since he has not been drinking well, they would also be able to check if something else is also affecting him by checking into other possible concurrent issues such as gastroenteritis or pancreatitis for instance. The most common reason for the swelling under his jaw are enlarged lymph nodes. With the increased thirst and swelling under his neck I am concerned he has a cancer called Lymphoma. He will need a physical exam and blood work. The most common cause of increased thirst with lymphoma is an increased calcium. Other causes for the swelling under his neck could be an allergic reaction, swollen salivary glands or lymph nodes that are swollen from something else other than cancer (reactive to something in his mouth or ears). The facial dropping sounds neurologic. 2 weeks is a long time to not eat. I would call tuesday when your Vet opens to get an appointment. It is difficult to say what the problem is without doing full clinical examination on Agua. However, it is quite common that the dogs' owners report that something 'doesn't feel right' in the throat but actually, it is normal anatomical structure. Throat area just can feel 'strange' in some dogs but there is nothing abormal there. Please, take Agua to your local vet for full clinical examination. If your vet is unsure (and for example he will suspect a mass in the throat, which sometimes happens), he will recommend examination of the throat under general anaesthesia and/or neck x-ray.

If they are enlarged lymph nodes throughout her body, it could be due to a development of lymphoma, or an infectious disease, for example. An early diagnosis of either (or another underlying issue) would be very beneficial for treatment. I would recommend she be evaluated by her regular veterinarian, and any necessary testing done. I would recomend a vet visit asap for Lillie. Intact female dogs are at a high risk for mammary cancer. Other worries may be organ disease due to her age. She should have a full physical exam and based on those findings a vet may recommend further testing to find out what is going on with Lillie.
