Senior dog's neck lump is growing, bleeding, and smells. What to do?

Poor Billy! Typically when an animal has an abscess, they are put under sedation so it can be drained and flushed correctly and sterilely. This is not possible to do when a dog is fully awake. Looking at the pictures of the lump on his nose, I would be very concerned that it is something much more than an abscess, such as a malignant tumor. Unfortunately that's always a possibly in a senior dog. Given that he won't let the vet take a good look at it awake, I do think it's best to have him sedated so the vet can take a proper look at it and can take a biopsy of it as needed. There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point. To be honest, it sounds like your vet has done a lot to rule out the most common causes of this noisy breathing starting with the least invasive procedures first (medications in case it was a respiratory infection). Given that there has been no improvement in his symptoms, the fact that they have gotten worse, and the fact Jones is a Lab, I would be thinking it's cancer as well. Unfortunately, cancer is common in Labs. You can see if your vet will take an x-ray of his nasal passages. That will be show if there is a tumor in his nasal passages, and it may be less expensive than the biopsy. I am sorry :-(

This lump needs to be checked and analysed as there are many conditions and types of tumors that could look like that. take Jasmine to the vet, they will perform a fine needle aspiration on the growth and send it to the lab for analysis. when the result comes, the vet will advise what needs to be done according to the diagnosis.

Oh my! Poor baby. I had another case similar to this and I took a piece of the tissue and sent it in for biopsy and also a bacterial and fungal culture. I would talk to your vet about doing this. I think this is the first step. You can also look up the herb yunnan bai Yao and talk to your vet about this to help control the bleeding. If it is a tumor, there isn’t much you can do about it unless you want to go see a specialist. A specialist could potentially remove it to help him feel better. Hi. Unfortunately this looks like more then a cyst. This could be a cancerous tumor that has become irritated and ulcerated. Based on this photo , it appears it should be removed and biopsied. If it isn't a cancerous tumor and is largely a cyst of some kind, it would still be best to remove it because of how irritated it is. It will eventually bother Adel a lot as well

Poor Gidget! Without being able to see it in person, it is difficult to say for sure. I would have your vet take a look at it since it is hairless. It is likely just a fatty tumor but I have seen a malignant type of skin tumor called a mast cell tumor look like that. Granted, we do have to keep in mind her age. You may decide just to keep her comfortable and make sure the area doesn't get infected and that isn't a wrong decision either. Your vet will be able to determine whether or not it is malignant and also make sure the part that is bleeding isn't going to get infection. A dog her age would have a hard time getting over an infection if left untreated. I hope this helps!
