Why does my senior dog's mouth sore bleed repeatedly when rubbed?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 11 years and 5 months old

My 11year old labrador has a sore on side of his mouth, I put ointment on it, seems to dry over then he rubs side of his face and causes it to bleed, he's not off food and still likes his little walks, just slowEd down a bit

The picture unfortunately does not actually show the area but I would recommend having any ongoing lumps checked by a vet, especially in an older dog as ulcerated masses can occasionally turn into tumors and removal is often recommended
